NHS Dictionary of Medicines and Devices (dm+d)
Medication names and product information used by MediMAR are derived in part from the NHS Dictionary of Medicines and Devices (dm+d), authored and maintained by the NHS Business Services Authority with support from NHS England, on behalf of the Department of Health and Social Care.
SNOMED CT
dm+d uses SNOMED CT content and identifiers. SNOMED and SNOMED CT are registered trademarks of SNOMED International.
Inclusion of dm+d or SNOMED CT terminology does not imply endorsement, certification or approval of MediMAR by the NHS, NHSBSA, NHS England, the Department of Health and Social Care or SNOMED International.
Scope and currency
The medication directory assists entry of medicine names, strengths and forms. It is not a prescribing database, dispensing system, comprehensive clinical decision-support service or substitute for a prescription, pharmacy label or professional advice.
dm+d is updated regularly. An installed version reflects the release packaged with that version and may not contain later changes. MediMAR permits free-text entry where an appropriate directory entry is unavailable.
